February 4th, 2012Arkansas Best Isn’t The Best, But Is It This Bad?
February 4th, 2012When you are looking at auto insurance, you would like to be adequately covered if you get in a accident, but you don’t want to pay greater than you must. Unfortunately so many people are doing just that, simply because they shouldn’t invest some time looking for auto insurance. It’s not inherently enjoyable, in the end, despite the actual way it looks in commercials featuring disgruntled cavemen and joke-cracking spokespeople.
Mistakenly Used Interior Primer. Am I Screwed?
February 4th, 2012auto insurance rate florida compare
I have a new replacement fiberglass (Pella) front door. I am painting it prior to installation. I have primed it with Kilz Original (interior) by mistake. Obviously the inward side of the door will be OK, but am I screwed on the outside. I planed on putting two to three coats of a quality (haven’t bought it yet) topcoat on the exterior.
Will the exterior topcoat be OK with the interior primer underneath it?
Thanks
Greg
Sheetrock work in a moblehome
February 4th, 2012where can i compare auto insurance rates
I decided to take the trim off of the wallpapered sheetrock walls
in my doublewide. There are no depressions in the edges, so I went ahead and filled the seams, taped and put 3 coats of mud on. I have sanded the work, but if I sand anymore, the tape will show, and it is still not as smooth as I want, before I paint the walls. Is there anything, like a fill or something, to get it smooth? Thanks…..Lynn

Vinyl plank floor over basement concrete is cupping-seller says put down plastic
February 1st, 2012I won’t mention the brand name, but we installed one of those new plank vinyl floors that do not require gluing. “Simple to install” which it wasn’t but we followed the directions carefully and the floor was very snug, i.e. no gaps between planks. The company advised us to use double-sided tape on some of the short ends which we did.
We have a nice smooth basement floor from which we removed an old vinyl floor.
Because of some concerns about possible asbestos in the old glue we sealed the concrete, prior to install of new floor, using concrete sealer–the kind that goes on milky and dries clear. At least 2 coats were applied.
Six months after installing the vinyl planks we noticed that some of them were cupped, forming a potential tripping hazard so we applied more double sided tape.
A year later when the cupping progressed we called the company. They came for an inspection and found some moldy areas under some planks. This was surprising as we had done repairs to our drainage and foundation two years previous, plus we had sealed the concrete. Furthermore when removing a two year old carpet in an adjacent room, there was no evidence of mold or moisture.
The vinyl flooring was advertised as appropriate for concrete basement floors. A company rep is now advising us to remove the flooring, put down 6 mil poly over the concrete and to reinstall the planks. I’m reluctant to do that because with even a millimeter of play the flooring is going to cause the planks to slide in this rental unit. And I wondering about creating an even better environment for mold under the plastic. I even wonder if the planks are promoting the growth of mold by creating a warm environment over a cooler concrete. Any thoughts?
Wireless Range – Add a new access point or add an extender?
February 1st, 2012Call the police, of course, if possible, keep these things arrived at the scene. Get a police report with all the officer’s name, whether or not the damage is minimal. It is then more challenging to get a criminal to wreck the vehicle later and then try to collect a larger claim. Remember that in cities where police remain stretched thin, the authorities may notarrived at an accident scene unless you can find injuries reported.
Hello,
I have a wireless range problem in parts of my house. I would like to try to close the signal gaps, and would like opinions on the best way to do that. I have a Cisco E4200 that is serving as my router and access point. It is located in my basement with my equipment closet and where my ethernet runs terminate. I have wired connections and switches in my family room and in the office on the second floor. I know the placement in the basement isn’t optimal but that is where my service entry is and all my cable runs terminate so the router needs to be there.
With the switch in the office I could easily add an access point that would likely cover my dead spots. I would think this option would be better but I don’t know how to configure the devices to connect to the best available signal (ie – the upstairs or downstairs network as I move around the house with the computer or iPad.) Is that possible or what is the solution there?
The other option would be to add a wireless range extender like Cisco or Netgear make. Seems pretty easy but the reviews I’ve read have just been ok.
Opinions on the best solution? If I add an access point, should I get a dedicated access point (which are a bit more pricey) or should I get another wireless router and turn off the DHCP?
